Do you ever have those moments when you want something specific, but don't want to go shopping to try and find it?
That was me recently . . . I knew I wanted a Valentine filler for one of my favorite trays, and this is what I came up with. And, actually, I really love these sweet little handcrafted yarn hearts!
This would be a fun craft to do with kids, too!
Here's how I did it.
What you'll need:
- Cardboard
- Yarn (any color you choose)
- Scissors
- I used 2 sizes of heart shaped cookie cutters, but you could freehand or print a template
- Trace your hearts onto the cardboard and then cut out. I like using different sizes for interest.
- Next, this was the key step for me . . . cut a few tiny notches around the sides of the cardboard heart to help secure the yarn at the beginning of wrapping.
- And, just start wrapping your heart until the cardboard is covered. There is no right or wrong and the more you wrap, you'll start to get the hang of it.
- When finished wrapping, I just looped the end of the string through the back and tied a knot. You could also hot glue.
Enjoy!
